Kirk + Evi London Wedding | Canary Wharf, London
Kirk and Eli’s wedding day was nothing less than intimate, thoughtful, and memorable. A little backstory, Kirk’s dad, Mark, was best friends with my dad growing up. They were a dynamic duo filled with so much history and memories starting at such a young age. I remember hearing all these crazy stories about the two of them growing up through high school, college, and long after.
So, when Kirk and Evi got engaged and asked if I was interested in being their photographer, I was thrilled. A few months went by and I headed to Canary Wharf, London to photograph their special day and let me tell you, perfect isn’t even a good word to describe how amazing their day was. All of their friends and family are just as welcoming, warm, and fun as they are. They treated me just like they’ve known me for years and it truly made me feel so at home.
Every little detail from their wedding day was so meticulously thought out. From the lavender that they picked and dried for the bridesmaid’s bouquets, to the floral pieces for the ceremony and reception made by her aunt, or even the decorations for the reception that were hung by family and friends. They even brought their own liquor/beer from the pub they own! It really doesn’t get more personal than that.
One of my favorite moments was their ceremony exit. They handed out glasses of champagne and dried flowers from their friends’ gardens to toss as they exited the church. Which, let’s not forget to mention, that the church, St. Annes Limehouse, is such a historical piece to Canary Wharf as it was built in the 1700’s. It was such a beautiful part of their wedding day as their guests cheered while they hustled down the stairs for a big group photo.
I can go on and on about this heartfelt day, but I will say it was definitely one for the books. Quite a few guests grew up with my dad. They would come up to me, tell me how much I look like him, or say, “Oh we loved KRASH, I mean Steve, haha!” To hear all the stories while I was in London from folks who knew my dad was truly something special. I am truly and so fortunate to have this job and capture amazing couples’ love like Kirk and Evi’s and the people they hold close to them.
